Pattern Recognition – Bean Head   According to cognitive scientists:   If you can find the man’s head within 3 seconds, then your right brain is more developed than normal people. If you can find the man’s head within 1 minute, then your right brain is developing normally. If it takes you longer than 1

King Gillette   In 1895 King Gillette (not royalty), went to shave and found his razor to dull.  As he went to the barber to have it sharpened.  He stood there looking at the very edge of his razor, the idea came to him.  What if I could create a “disposable blade”?  No one would

How Many Faces Do You See? Answer is below. Sometimes the answers are right in front of you.  Often, your brain is messing with your head and you just can see the answer.  It’s there! Also, there are times we see things that aren’t really there.  I’m not talking about seeing dead people, but in

Pattern Recognition – Batman Logo   What do you see?  A black swan?  A Batman logo?  A Ninja Throwing Star?  Something else? It’s actually a big white “?” mark.  If you didn’t see the “?” mark at first, don’t feel bad.  Nearly no one does.  Some people in my workshops can’t see it even after

Pattern Recognition – Two Women  What do you see here?  A young woman?  An old hag?  It all depends on how your brain was trained to recognize patterns. Most people see one or the other and it’s difficult for them to see the other.  Can you see both? The young woman has her face turned

Pattern Recognition Laptop I am going to tell you the shadowed white area is the same color as the cover.  Do you believe me?  I bet you don’t.  Look closely at it.  Takeyour hand and cover the image below. Hard to believe?  It’s amazing how much your eyes and brain will deceive you, isn’t it?

Can you count the black dots?  How many black dots are there?  Take your time.  You will be graded on this. You see white dots?  So, there aren’t any black dots?  Which is it, black dots or white dots?  This is a standard jpeg.  It is static and does not change. I guess you’re seeing

Look at the image above.  Just a standard, difficult maze design? Keep looking at it.  In a few seconds you will see the words “I Can’t Sleep”.  Once you see them, you can’t “not” see them any more. Isn’t it amazing how the brain can identify patterns in the most complex images and lock on

Pattern Recognition – Three Parked  Cars   How about this image?  It’s obvious that the three cars are all different sizes, right?  Wrong!   How about now?  They are all the same size.  Damn lying brain! “Admitting your weaknesses is your strongest strength.” -Lon Safko   Lon Safko Serial Innovator, Keynote Speaker, Trainer, Innovative Thinking

Let’s try something different.  We’ll step away from the illusions and I’ll show you a really simple challenge.  First graders get this immediately.  So should you. This is a bus.  Which way will the bus pull away from the curb?  To the left or to the right?  That’s it!  Grad schoolers get this right away.
