20 Ways To Eliminate Stress Without Leaving Your Desk

The Communicate part of the Three C’s can also be a form of meditation.  Meditation is nothing more than focusing your mind and shielding yourself from outside disturbances.  When you can eliminate outside interference, you bring your body and your mind to a calm state.  It’s only in this calm state that your right brain can Communicate to your left.

Often, we are required to be innovative at work.  Finding your calm space can be really difficult.  I have a “spinner” and an egg of Silly Putty on my desk near my keyboard at all times.  I get it at the .99¢ store. I also keep Silly Putty in the console of my car.  It’s great for when you are stuck in traffic.   Here are 20 ways to help eliminate stress without leaving your desk

  • Ipad your stress away
  • Play Solitaire
  • Pictures of the family (Unless you have a family like mine.)
  • Deep breathing / meditate
  • Affirmations
  • Calisthenics
  • Jokes
  • Youtube
  • Silly Putty
  • Scooby Snacks (Citrus, Vitamin C)
  • Write (journal, blog, comment on others)
  • Power naps – 20 minutes works wonders
  • Doodle
  • Call your family (see above)
  • Surf the Web (set time limits, though)
  • Coloring
  • Build a puzzle
  • Sing Out Loud (quietly)
  • Read (children’s books, poetry, comics, or a cheesy magazine)
